Being Prepared for the Higher Level: GMAT Practice Exams

Pursuing advanced studies is never given on a silver platter. You have to earn it through hard work and perseverance. One of the ways you can do this is through a Graduate Management Admission Test, or GMAT. It is important to pass this exam since colleges require this before they will allow you to pursue a Master’s degree. Different procedures are involved in the GMAT and this can be practiced through taking GMAT practice exams.

One of the components of a GMAT is the analytical thinking test. This part of the exam is done by analyzing and interpreting an argument through an essay. The essays come in two different sets, each scored separately: manual and machine checking. The test is evaluated with a score from 0 to 6; 0 as the lowest and 6 as the highest.

Another component of a GMAT is the quantitative examination. A series of multiple questions is presented and must be answered within 75 minutes. This test is composed of 37 questions which are divided into two parts: problem solving and information sufficiency. The maximum attainable score for this test is 60 points. To prepare and sharpen your abilities in this part, you can take an advanced review class or answer a GMAT online practice test.

The next component of a GMAT is the verbal examination. Your ability to understand what you read and hold information is tested in this part of the GMAT. This part of the exam is composed of 41 questions in three categories: sentence correction, vital reasoning and reading comprehension. Sentence correction deals with correct grammar and proper sentence construction. Vital reasoning is argument construction based on the give scenario. Reading comprehension deals with text analysis; this involves reading a passage and then answering related questions.

You should also be aware that colleges have different bases for the passing rate. There are some that display the average score of examinees instead of posting the passing mark. Therefore, some people tend to think that those scores are the standard passing rate. Other elite colleges set an average score of 600 to 700 out of an 800 text item.

These are simply a few things to be considered when you decide to take a GMAT. It is crucial to take the GMAT seriously since it is the key in getting an advanced learning in your selected field. You should be proactive and study to the fullest through various ways like taking a GMAT online test to gain an advantage.
